Who am I…

A man in outdoor gear stands on a dirt trail with a black and white puppy on a leash, set in a grassy landscape with distant mountains at sunset.

My name is Alan, and my journey to dog training has been anything but conventional. Originally from the Midlands, I moved to Hertfordshire to pursue a music degree. As the oldest stories go, I met a girl, fell in love, and never went home.

Fast forward 12 years, and my career in the hospitality industry—which I had somewhat fallen into—was brought to an abrupt stop by the pandemic. I was getting pretty bored anyway, so perhaps it was the push I needed.

During and between the various lockdowns, I seized the opportunity to return to education, this time to pursue my true passion: animals, especially dogs and understanding their behaviour. The years spent in hospitality had taught me patience, clear communication, and how to handle challenging situations with calm professionalism—skills that translate beautifully to working with both dogs and their humans.

For my training, I chose the IMDT (Institute of Modern Dog Training) because I loved their ethical code and commitment to positive, science-based methods. This education opened doors to work that truly fulfils me.

Today, I not only help families build stronger relationships with their dogs through modern training techniques, but I also work very closely with a Springer Spaniel rescue centre, rehabilitating dogs who need a second chance. This rescue work has deepened my understanding of canine behaviour and reinforced my belief that every dog deserves patience, understanding, and the right approach to help them thrive.

Whether you're welcoming a new puppy, working through behavioural challenges, or simply wanting to strengthen your bond with your four-legged family member, I'm here to help you both succeed together.
